Nicolaï Vetchtomov (1923-2007)

Painter born in Moscow. After the second world war, where he was battling at the front, he studies at the school of art in Moscow (1946-1949) ; this school is closed in 1949 because of "formalism".

At the end of the fifties, he works with the painters of the Lianozovo group, which influences him to go from surrealism to a neo-abstract style. Faithful to the artists of Lianozovo, he takes part from 1958 to 1965 in the " Informal Art Sundays" exhibitions.

Later, he is interested in philosophy and religion. His art work is in the Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), in many museums and private collections.
